The doctors and nurses that saw my children were wonderful. The front desk staff - not so much. They were not helpful when we had general (non-medical) questions or requests for various documentation. It wasn't worth it to deal with the aggravations of dealing with the office staff - there are a number of good pediatricians available in Loudoun County.
Our experiences were limited to the Ashburn location.
Dr Kodu is a baby whisperer! So lucky to have found him! He always figures out what’s not working in the first few minutes and gives tips on how to handle upcoming changes. Made my life so much easier. All the diagnoses have been on point also far. Great experience!
Terrible experience. My daughter was sick and was given a wrong dose of the medication to treat. He also missed an ear infection that she was diagnosed with a week after. She didn’t get better so we sent messages with no answer. Then we discover that the pediatrician is answering messages while he is taking time off from India causing a delay. The simplest answer is bring her back to be seen for exactly what she was seen for a week prior which is another visit with another bill to the insurance . I then go to the office to take her records and discover that no staff is there because all quit except one person who was overwhelmed. Thankfully we left this practice. When I went to the new practice we were told her mouth infection didn’t improve because she was given wrong dose of medication and because an ear infection was there. Not sure how all these reviews are good. I wish I can give zero. Please don’t go there. I can call my family and let them all give me good google reviews if you know what I mean..
First impression is that the office was filthy. We called on advance and were told that we could go in and chat with the Dr to ask general questions and see if he was somebody that we would feel comfortable with. When we arrived also getting our toddler vaccinated, we were told that the Dr was a very bust person and asked why we wanted to speak with him. Our son was given the vaccine, the bandaid wasn't put on correctly, we were given no literature on things to watch for, no information on when to get the second dose, and basically told to just go wait in the dirty lobby. The Dr did come out and was abrasive, clearly had no interest in being there, and asked if we wanted to schedule a first vaccination shot. Only person less pleasant than the Dr was the nurse that gave the shot and then complained for the next 5 minutes to the front desk workers about package delivery people.
As I don't appreciate dishonestly, I will respond to the owner response:
1. I did not tell you I didn't receive a vaccination card. I expressed surprise that there was post vaccine information whether it be written or verbally provided with regards to what to look out for, no post vaccine waiting period, no information provided with regards to when to get a second shot. Any level of protocol or information I was provided when I got my vaccinations.
2. We called in advance of the appointment providing info on our child and asking if we could have a brief meet and greet. We were told us that it would not be a problem and that we should just come in to do so.
3. I left the office and conversation because I did not like your tone, your impatience, did not feel that the conversation was positive, did not wish to get into an argument with you, and knew that I would not trust my child in your care.
Our daughter is 6 months old, and we have been bringing her to Penguin Pediatrics since she was 3 days old. We've received nothing but wonderful care from Dr. Kodu, Dr. McKennon, as well as all of the nurses and staff. We always leave each appointment feeling reassured and informed. 10/10!
The only person in this place who has empathy and does a good job is Dr Kodu. Dr Kodu is very kind, respectful and a very good doctor, which is why I took my son to this place, but because the rest of the staff at this place are unprofessional, I had to change my son's pediatrician. The people working at the front desk have no idea how to do their job and the nurse has zero empathy for the children. It made me very sad to have changed my baby's doctor since I felt very well with Dr Kodu, but I did not feel that this place was the best environment for me and my son.
Doctor Kodu is amazing! We were able to get into the office when our little one was three days old and have had superb care the entire time. During our first visit he went over so much information, including what was normal for a newborn and what was abnormal. He suggested that we record it so that we could reference if needed, and, as first time parents... we needed it and did refer back to it! The office staff is friendly and efficient and making appointments has been very easy. When we had concerns outside of our regular newborn appointments, they’ve been able to fit us in. Additionally, the precautions they’re taking for COVID are well thought out and executed. Overall, would highly recommend and look forward to continued great care for our little one!
Dr Kodu and his staff hands down are the best pediatric practice in the area. I came from another pediatrician’s office and my son was just a number seeing 4 different doctors. There was no consistency and I never felt like they heard my issues or concerns for my son. Dr Kodu has been instrumental in my son’s allergies, issues and taking the time to listen. The office staff is always friendly and nice and will always try and accommodate to get my son in for a sick visit. I love this office!
